Conservative Republican business leader will work to expand access to high-paying jobs in region.
Conservative Republican Trey Sheppard today announced his run for state House District 128, which includes all of Washington, Hancock, Glascock and Warren counties and parts of Baldwin and McDuffie counties.
“This is home. I’ve never lived anywhere else in my life, and I never will,” said Sheppard, the co-president of Howard Sheppard, Inc., a transportation and logistics company that has served Georgia for more than 82 years. “I want to take the experience and knowledge that I’ve gained as a businessman, as a parent and as a community volunteer to create high-paying jobs, improve educational opportunity and maintain what we all love about living in rural Georgia.”
As a state representative, Sheppard will address affordability with plans to lower property taxes and protect families from higher energy costs.
“Families and businesses have suffered from spiraling costs, and we need experienced business leaders at the table to bring relief,” Sheppard said. “I strongly support the civil justice reforms that passed last year under the leadership of Gov. Brian Kemp and Speaker Jon Burns, and I want to go to the Gold Dome to make sure that insurance companies pass on those savings to Georgia consumers and job creators.”
Sheppard has extensive experience serving his community as a member of the Technical College System of Georgia board and the Washington County Development Authority.
“I have long worked to bring good jobs to our region, and my work on the TCSG board reflects my belief that good jobs require a highly skilled workforce,” Sheppard said. “I want to take the counties in District 128 to the next level on those efforts because the best cure for rising costs of living are better and higher paying job opportunities.”
Sheppard and his wife, Emily, live in Sandersville with their four children.
